This area next to the 6th fairway is a difficult area to maintain. It have very limited space between the bunker and the fence which adds to the compaction problem. Also, being quite a distance from the irrigation heads of the fairway it suffers from inadequate moisture.The top picture shows the poor quality turf with some rutting from constant erosion. The bottom picture is the after with new sod and some special aeration (aero-vator and root pruning of the trees on other side of the fence). We will restrict the cart traffic in this area and hopefully it will remain in good condition for all the power fade shots coming from the 6th tee.
